Blog #1: The Benefits of an Organized Environment

In case you haven’t noticed, organizing is having its moment right now! The kingpins of organizing, like Marie Kondo and the Home Edit, have brought a lot of attention to the beauty of decluttering. I think sometimes the popularity and overload of information becomes a bit overstimulating—hacks, rules, to-do lists, and all the organizing merchandise that people are selling now. When you don’t have an action plan or professional help, you can end up right back where you started, cluttered, disorganized, and with too much stuff!  My main point here is that organizing should bring peace, not chaos. Every person needs to find what works best for them. To start in the right direction, I want to share 5 benefits of an organized and decluttered home.

Benefit #1: Reduced Decision Fatigue

I’m starting this list off with my favorite benefit of an organized home: less decision fatigue! Humans have thousands of thoughts every day, and it can become EXHAUSTING. We also have to make decisions constantly about what to wear, what to eat, and what to do, among other things. Having a cluttered space just adds to the stress and wears you out mentally. When you reduce clutter and create structure, you’re making fewer unnecessary decisions, which allows you to keep your mind quieter/less tired.

Benefit #2: It Saves Time and Money

I don’t know about you, but I don’t enjoy wasting time and money. Having a disorganized home can unintentionally waste your time and money. When your house is full of clutter, you begin to lose track of your house. All of a sudden, you have three hot glue guns, 17 sticks of deodorant, and a bunch of expired food because you simply can’t keep up! To piggyback on that, think of all the time you’ve spent searching for something you KNOW you have but just can’t find. This is why you need to stay organized and clutter-free!

Benefit #3: Better Sleep

I know this might sound crazy, but your messy bedroom is disrupting your sleep. The clutter you see in your environment is subconsciously stressing you out and affecting your REM. Clutter signals *STRESS* and organizing signals *CALM* to the mind. A clutter-free environment promotes relaxation and signals to your mind and body to wind down. Personally, a good night’s rest is PRICELESS; no clutter is worth a bad sleep.

Benefit #4: Increase in Self-Esteem and Productivity

True statement: your environment reflects your mind. If your home looks like a hurricane ran through it, your thoughts might be feeling the same. If you don’t believe me, I DARE you to organize your space and see if you feel a difference. Once your home is finally decluttered and given structure, you will begin to feel better about yourself and more in control of your life. Naturally, productivity increases as well because an organized environment allows you to focus on what's important, not the mess.

Benefit #5: Reduced Stress and Anxiety

Last but not least, an organized and decluttered environment reduces stress and anxiety. I don’t maintain an organized home because it’s picture-perfect; I do it because it helps me be the best version of myself. My quality of life has improved because my space is decluttered, and I live in an environment. When your environment causes you stress, it’s hard to show up as the best version of yourself that feels calm and safe. Getting control of space is the first step you can take to reclaim personal power and bring energy back into your home!

I hope you enjoyed these facts! If you want to start experiencing these benefits ^^^ give me a call! I would love to work with you and create the organized safe haven you deserve <3

Until next time,

Brooke
